As a group we feel it is important to give back to our community whenever possible. We operate on not “what can this group do for me”, but rather “what can this group do for the community” believing that the more we give the more will come back to us by God’s good graces. Together we have been blessed to have had the means and opportunity to donate our time, talent and treasure to important community service endeavors like St. Vincent De Paul Society and ‘The Sunday Supper’ which feed the homeless of Downtown Indianapolis.

We are inspired by the memory of Lucious Newsom (1915-2008) a Tennessee Baptist Minister who joined the Catholic Faith after being motivated by the number of Catholics who were so willing to serve those in need. Nicknamed the Lord’s beggar, Lucious made it his mission to help the needy of Indianapolis with long hours, complete faith, tireless energy and inspiring anecdotes. He was an amazing example of selflessness.

Proof that one person can change their little corner of the world. Lucious was the founder of Our Lord’s Pantry located at Anna’s House where volunteers set up tables and stock them to look like a grocery store with the fruits, vegetables, salads, breads and meats—so needy people can come and be given a choice and a sense of dignity. If you too wish to serve the poor in a ministry that is completely ‘hands on’ call our Outreach Committee Chair Steve Battiato at 317-727-0760 and leave your message or call Anna's House at 317-372-7323 or visit www.annascelebrationoflife.com
